Tenets and Objectives:

Flight 18 has made a proposal to the National Commander and Chairman and Board of Directors of the Order of Daedalians essentially to restore the Order’s TENETS & OBJECTIVES (T&O) to their traditional form. You may or may not be aware that the T&O were changed effective 1 January 2004.  The revised T&O, which are posted in the Bylaws section of the Order of Daedalians web site, are replicated in their proposal along with the pre-2004 versions they replaced.

Flight 18 claims the new OBJECTIVES sound just fine as written, with emphasis on air and space power, national defense and military pilots.  However, when compared to the original intent of the founders and the traditional objectives that have served us well for many years, a great deal of what Daedalians stand for and strive to accomplish has been deleted.  Their proposal to National includes a direct comparison of the traditional and new objectives and may be viewed here.

We invite you to review the proposal and discuss it at our next meeting. It may be an item for discussion at the National Convention in Seattle 6-10 May 2009.
